Outdoor Essentials was started in April 2000 by myself, Sieghard Weitzel. My objective is to provide the best selection of outdoor gear and clothing as well as hunting and shooting supplies in our region. We are customer service-oriented and will go to great lengths to take care of whatever it is you require. We also offer competitive pricing and even though Outdoor Essentials is a relatively small store with about 4000 Sqf. of retail space, we can ship worldwide.
I immigrated to Canada in 1989 from Germany and despite the fact that I lost my eye-sight in an accident at the age of 16, I am passionate about outdoor sports and enjoy hiking/backpacking, canoeing, kayaking, snowshoeing and cross country /downhill skiing. I moved to Smithers in 1996 because I believe it is one of the most beautiful places in all of British Columbia with friendly people, and beautifully situated in the heart of the Bulkley Valley and surrounded by an incredible outdoor playground.
